One of the best meals I’ve had in Japan. I really enjoyed this Okonomiyaki place and am so grateful I got to try it. My brother and I came on a Friday night so it was busy but we managed to get a counter seat which I was so grateful for. They make your Okonomiyaki on the teppan in front of you and serve it there which is nice because your food stays hot the entire time. They have many english menus too and sitting with all the locals and being welcomed by the staff was such a nice experience. The food was amazing genuinely we had the scallop okonomiyaki and the squid modern-yaki which is just the addition of noodles. Everything was great because the food was amazing but the staff was so friendly and I feel so grateful to be served by them

Strong contender for best Okonomiyaki ever. Ate at a few other places during my time in Osaka/Kyoto, even ate Chibo, but the one here at Dontaku is miles, even KILOMETRES better than all the rest. We got lucky and didn’t have to wait for a seat, while we were dining, people were told to wait for a long time, and some even got rejected. Okonomiyaki is DELICIOUS, combination of different sauces was perfect (think they have ketchup and mustard???), pork was yummy, texture of the Okonomiyaki is perfect. Yakisoba is decent too, but not the best. I want to try the pork wrapped in egg next time, it looked delicious as we saw other guests have that. Service is good too, staff is very friendly. Small cozy place as well which I liked. After a long day of walking around Osaka, this was the perfect meal to end the day. Will definitely come back here again when I visit Osaka.

We had to have okonomiyaki during our stay in Osaka! The restaurant doesn't have much seating so we had to wait 20-30 minutes for dinner on a Monday (~6:15pm). We tried yakisoba and a couple of okonomiyaki, but I have to say that the yakisoba was my favorite! We got the mixed (pork and seafood) yakisoba with salt seasoning (instead of BBQ sauce) upon the chef's recommendation, and it was definitely the right choice. It was perfectly savory with a bit of creaminess from the mayo added in. I could eat so much of this. I would definitely get this again and will be trying to recreate it at home. We got the mixed okonomiyaki and the mixed modern okonomiyaki (has noodles). Both were good, but had too much BBQ sauce for us. They were also huge, and ended up being too much starch for us. For two people, two dishes would definitely be enough. Overall I would definitely get the yakisoba again, and maybe not the okonomiyaki. The prices are super reasonable -- 1100-1300 yen for a huge and filling dish. One thing I noticed was that a lot of the pork they were using in the okonomiyaki was mostly fat (luckily not in our dishes). I enjoyed watching the chefs doing what they do best -- no idea how they kept track of all of the simultaneous cooking!

How did I just found this place? Service? Good. Food? Gewwwwd! You dont speak/understand Japanese? Don’t worry, they have the English menu. Regarding the payment, I paid in cash as some others too. So I guess its cash only? The only downside was as the place is too small so you feel like so close to the people next to you. BUT, its worth it. I will definitely order the one that have Soba next time!

Located in a back alley which you would need focusing to notice its existence, the food in this Okonomiyaki restaurant is superb. The setup is nearly all counter seats and the decoration is noticeably old, you can enjoy watching the chefs cooking your food in front of you. There are two types of okonomiyaki offered, with or without fried noodles. The one with fried noodle is quite heavy but also rich in texture. The sauce on okonomiyaki is not overwhelming. Also offer some side dishes which squid teppanyaki is not tough and quite good in seasoning. The only minus would be the staff are too busy so they missed one of our orders.

Small restaurant where I went especially for the okonomiyaki. It was a great experience. Good atmosphere, simple and excellent. I did not wait too long, the owners were very pro, efficient and friendly. They also have an English menu. I will definetely come back and recommend this place.

It’s a wonderful experience in a small shop setting with live cooking in front of you. The grilled squid is the best I have tasted so far and it’s so soft. My kid which seldom eats squid ask for another order.. tonpei which is grilled pork with cabbage is another must order..
